Set to make a triumphant return to the JAM Concert stage at the third day of Cosplay Mania 2026, MindaRyn is poised to make history as she makes Manila her first stop in her first-ever Asia tour. “Calling Back” will be a showcase of the talent and dedication she has devoted to her craft as it is an emotional journey of the bonds she has made along the way.
Hailing from Thailand, MindaRyn has been one of the most prominent Anisong artists in recent times, and is well know and loved for her iconic vocals from the theme song “Like Flames” in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. She has also performed for many anime titles, such as Ultraman Blazar and Arifureta.
arkadymac.com has been given the incredible opportunity to have an interview with MindaRyn and we thought back to 2024 when she got to headline the JAM Concert. Her performance has left a strong and lasting impression on the Filipino audience, and her following has only grown since by leaps and bounds.
We asked her what has been her fondest memory of the Philippines since Cosplay Mania 2022?
“My fondest memory is definitely the warmth, the smiles, and the incredible energy that anime fans gave me from the audience.”
“At that time, I have to admit that I was still very inexperienced and really nervous. 2022 was a year when so many things in my life were changing. It was the first year I moved to Japan, and I was still trying to adjust to my new life and to becoming a professional anisong artist.”
“So being able to come here and meet everyone at Cosplay Mania, and feel all that energy coming from the audience, meant so much to me. At a time when I was really unsure of myself, it almost felt like everyone was cheering me on and saying, “You got this, girl! You can do it! Gooo” Lol.”
“That feeling of being supported so warmly is what I remember most about Cosplay Mania 2022, and it’s a memory that has stayed with me ever since.”
Having her songs as part of the “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” series was the gateway for even more people to discover her work. We asked her how she felt when she found out her songs will be part of the anime.
“I’m incredibly happy and honored! I was already a fan of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime even before my debut, and it’s such a huge franchise loved by people all around the world. At first, I never imagined that I would actually get the chance to sing for an anime this big.”
“Since becoming part of the Tensura family, I’ve had the opportunity to travel to many countries and perform songs from the series. Everywhere I go, I can really feel the power of Tensura and just how much people love this story and its characters.”
“It honestly makes me feel so proud of Rimuru-sama! Lol.”
“I hope I can continue to support this amazing anime through my music, and wherever I perform, I want to share the excitement and charm of Tensura with everyone through the songs I sing.”
We then got to ask her how it felt to be able to launch her first Asian Tour, “Calling Back,” and to have Manila as the first destination.
“The title “Calling Back” came from something very personal to me. Whenever I miss home, one of the only things I can really do is call my family, hear their voices, receive a little encouragement from them, and then keep moving forward”
“And the three places on this tour are all places that somehow feel like another home to me.”
“Every time I come back to the Philippines, I feel strangely safe and comfortable here — even though this isn’t actually my home country! Lol There’s just this warmth and friendly energy that everyone gives off. I don’t really know how else to describe it, but there’s such a genuine and welcoming feeling here that always makes me feel at home.”
“I also feel like Filipinos and Thai people have a very similar kind of smile — a smile that welcomes people as if they’re already part of the family.”
“So I’m really happy that Manila gets to be the first destination of a tour called “Calling Back.” In a way, it really does feel like I’m calling back to another home.”
It has been delightful to know that she gets to feel at home in the Philippines and that she has decided to have her first stop here in Manila for her first Asia Tour.
