arkadymac.com sponsored a summer cosplay photoshoot at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife last April4,2014. Originally planned as a small get-together of friends and supporters of arkadymac.com, it became quite a large gathering of people who heeded the call for cosplayers and photographers wishing for an event to go to as the summer and vacation started in earnest.
I rented out the Tea House so that participants can have a place to stay, rest, prepare themselves, and, more importantly, to get some shade against the harsh summer heat. The participants came in trickles in the morning but by afternoon everyone was busy having their shoots around the park.
I had originally wanted to just do a shoot with a few cosplayers by myself, but many other people took interest in my small summer event so I hurriedly organized one within just three days. It was my first time to organize an event and photohoot, so I was nervous and worried most of the time. Also, because it was a weekday, I had trouble getting people to help out as co-organizers so I was found alone welcoming guests, making sure they have a place at the tea house, shooting cosplayers, overseeing supplies, tending to the guests’ needs, and all the other things that need to be done. It was exhausting but I was happy as the guests said they were enjoying themselves.
It was also an opportunity for people to socialize. Cosplayers and photographers were friendly despite the heat and were eager to share names, interests and stories with each other. They enjoyed taking pictures with each other and just enjoyed being with fellows who shared the same interests s they did.
Even though it was a weekday, many people still participated in the event. And then there were those who came just to support me. I was humbled when I realized that, so to them, I am very grateful. I also wish to apologize to some people who weren’t able to meet me as I was busy running around tending to everyone. My sincerest apologies for not being to accommodate you. I promise to make it all up to you at our next event.

I’m sorry to have our good friend Din model my haphazard event sign, but I everything happened so suddenly I didn’t have timeto have a tarp prepared, or even a proper sign. But half a purpose served its purpose as everyone who came was truly welcome to join in.
The event ended around 5pm. I am grateful that the participants told me that they had fun and enjoyed themselves and it made me happy that despite my limited organizational and people skills, everything turned out well only because I had so many people supporting me. Thank you for placing your trust in me, and rest assured I’ll try even harder next time to bring you events that cosplayers, photographers and their friends and family will enjoy.
