We at arkadymac.com are excited to be an official media partner for Best of Anime 2014, BOA 2014 the most anticipated anime convention of the year. As one of the biggest events this year for Japanese pop culture enthusiasts, particularly anime fans, The Best of Anime is an anime convention held every year in Manila, Philippines and is now on its 5th year, September 20-21, 2014 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia , Pasay City, and now were here bringing you the highlights of our coverage from BOA Day 2.
The Best of Anime has consistently reached thousands of visitors for the past four momentous years. Last year, the two-day event had more than 20,000 visitors who trooped to the venue to experience and witness once more what “The Best of Anime” showcased and offered. The anime convention has featured an impressive roster of talents, cosplayers, activities, and much more. Moreover, the convention has extended its horizons and upgraded the local Anime Conventions by having JPop Idol Group, Starmarie, exciting the crowd with their scintillating song and dance performances. And on Day 2 they opened the festivities with another powerful and endearing performance.
This year’s list of impressive international guests included prominent cosplayer Onnies from Thailand, renowned cosplayer Karael and Singaporean blogger/cosplayer Kaika. They thrilled the audiences no end with their performances and their appeal to their Filipino fans the previous day. On Day 2 they had meet and greet sessions with their fans at the different meeting rooms of SMX, as well as press conferences with the media.
Highlighting BOA day 2 was the Hero Face Off where cosplayers battled it out for the biggest prizes of the year, which opened with OPM band Pedicab’s thunderous performance.
Serving as judges were PBB Grand Winner Myrtle, Hero TV Channel Head Jojo Estacio and celebrity and model Tessa Prieto-Valdez. There was the Kids Squad Category for chibi cosplayers, League of Heroes for groups, and Hero Face Off Category for the adults. Cosplayers gave their best performances on stage in their magnificent costumes to the appreciation of the crowd. In the end, chose by the judges were, for the Kids Squad Category, Bolen Lareza as Champion and Ashley Misaki as Runner Up. For the League of Heroes Category, Team Crossback won as Champion while SGR 48 won Runner Up. And for the Hero Face Off Category, the two champions named were Andrea Hernandez as Fatalis from Monster Hunters and RB Cheng as King Gojulas of Zoids.
OPM band Sandwich also gave an exciting performance to cap of the Hero Faceoff event.
Then came time to thank all the people who made the event a success, from the guests to the sponsors.
Japanese-American performer/musician Joe Inoue rocked the house with a rocking and amusing performance which had the SMX literally shaking.
Capping off the day’s performances was Japanese visual Kei band Heidi who gave a rocking performance that literally made the floor of the SMX Function Halls 3 and 4 shake and quake as fans jumping couldn’t get enough of the band, screaming at the top of their lungs and singing with the band.
