As the biggest Lolita and J-Fashion event of the year, Welcome to Wonderland Grand Tea Party enchanted enthusiasts and the curious alike last September 10, 2022 at the Otacute Wallstreet Event Hall in YOU Suites Recto, Manila. After the successful online event on August 28, 2022 came this much awaited face-to-face convention like no other.
The Otacute Wallstreet Event Hall got to welcome guests and attendees from all over, and it made a fitting venue for the Welcome to Wonderland Grand Tea Party. The splendid catwalk plus the many interesting attractions and photo opportunity areas were a great touch and were just perfect to showcase various Japanese Street Fashion styles, such as Lolita Fashion and Kimono styles that the guests have been eagerly awaiting to share and display to an equally eager audience.
There were many opportunities and spaces to have everyone’s photos taken in their lovely coordinates. The tables were meticulously arranged with the Alice in Wonderland theme in mind.
There was a variety of food served by the event plus the ones from the vendors. The treats were as cute and colorful as they were delicious.
The event featured so much fascinating facets about Japanese fashion as the guests indulged the visitors with their expertise.
Spellbinding music and dance performances KiraKiraKat, Festa, and Jan had the audience cheering and having a great time.
The finalists for the lolita and Harajuku fashion competitions got to show off their exquisite ensembles at the Wallstreet Hall’s runway. Despite some difficulties, contests were enchanting and elegant, much to everyone’s enjoyment.
The J-Music Karaoke Competition contestants performed outstanding and entertaining musical numbers. There was one contestant who powered through without music accompaniment due to technical difficulties, but everyone in the event area was so supportive, providing cheers and rhythmic claps for her.
Fancy Moi had their models show off their intricate designs in coordinates that can be worn by males and females.
By the end of the event, the awards for the different contests were handed out and everyone was appreciative of the hard work of all the organizers, sponsors, attendees, contestants and everyone who got to support Welcome to Wonderland. Everyone had the opportunity to have fun and meet new friends who share the same passion. Overall a good experience and we definitely would want another lolita event to happen again.
As feedback, the organizers have room to improve especially towards the contestants who were given too much leeway for their presentations/performances. We have also heard that the food at the buffet was not quite enough. And for any organizer choosing YOU Suites as their venue, it would greatly help congoers next time, to have signs inside the building that point where Otacute Wallstreet is discreetly located. Having the venue’s security made well aware that there will be a niche event in the building would also tremendously save a first comer’s time.
