There was much appreciation for the shared values and cultures between the Philippines and the Land of the Rising Sun as The Japan Foundation Manila brought back the live return of Nihongo Fiesta 2023 last February 25, 2023 at the Shangri-la Plaza. It was a celebration that marked with the 50th Nihongo Speech Contest with talented hopefuls from around the country sharing their skill and love for the Japanese language.

Nihongo Fiesta 2023 has been a long-running event that highlighted the admirable exchange of Japanese and Filipino cultures through contests and performances. This of course included the Nihongo Speech Contest, a premier competition already on its 50th edition. Filipino hopefuls competed and gave their best speeches and the best among them have been awarded wonderful prizes, which included a round-trip ticket from Manila to Tokyo courtesy of ANA.
Nihongo Fiesta 2023 also featured the Taiko and Kulintang performance by Leonard Eto and Tusa Montes, gifting the audience an incredible fusion of Japanese-Filipino percussion.
There were also displays of arts and crafts around the venue that the attendees found interesting.
Nihongo Fiesta 2023 got to showcase the rich culture of the Japanese as well as the remarkable potentials of the cooperation and mutual admiration of Japanese and Filipino cultures. Many thanks to the Japan Foundation, Manila for always bringing this yearly tradition back to life.
