It was an enchanting festival that welcomed the summer as Natsu Matsuri 2023: Shinden brought together traditional and modern cultural scenes of Japan at Ateneo de Manila University’s Bellarmine Field last March 24. The last one being held way back in in 2019, Natsu Matsuri 2023 brought back the fun and excitement of Japanese-themed school events since the pandemic.

arkadymac.com is once again an official media partner for this event, covering the event since 2017. For our main feature and coverage of Natsu Matsuri 2023, click here. In this feature we share our shots of the many fascinating scenes and people by our photographer, Kazumi. Also helping us out were our Correspondents Sabthulhu and Yanna. Sabthulhu was wearing a traditional yukata while Yanna cosplayed as casual Yoimiya from the game Genshin Impact.

As per tradition, the event was open to Ateneans and visitors, and attendees were able to experience a traditional Japanese festival with fun games, interesting booths and merchandise, great food, and awesome live performances.

It was amazing how the guests were as colorful as the event, and attendees came in droves dressed in wonderful traditional Japanese fineries and in fascinating cosplays.

A well-deserved congratulations to Ateneo Hinomoto for successfully holding Natsu Matsuri again, and we look forward to the next summer festival. Natsu Matsuri 2023 was presented in partnership with The Japan Foundation Manila and Sugawara Budokai Manila, Urban Chicks Resto Maginhawa, as well as their media partners The Daily Manila Shimbun, Radyo Katipunan, and arkadymac.com.

Many thanks to our photographer Kazumi Hoshi for taking these shots. And thank you for dropping by, and do visit us again for more event features here at arkadymac.com.
