arkadymac.com is glad to be a media partner for AME Fair X at the World Trade Center held last weekend, December 13-14, 2014. For many years AME Fair has been a much-anticipated event, and this year it has continued to be a favored destination for fans of Japanese pop culture, gaming and hobbies as they gathered for an experience like no other. AME Fair X is organized by Worldbex Services International in cooperation with UP AME.
Our new photographer and meganekko Kami-kun was there to cover Day 2 of AME Fair X. She had fun along the way of course, as she got to meet cosplayer and photographer friends excited about the event as well.
The action took place at the East Wing of the World Trade Center. The venue was huge and spacious and rather cold, so it was quite a departure from the usual conventions or events held recently. A large assortment of food and drinks was available at the World Bazaar next door, and the AME Fair X ticket gave holders access there too.
And because we were sponsors for the event, we were given a complimentary booth. Made us really happy to see it of course as it made me realize arkadymac.com has come a long way since we started two years ago. Besides our tarp, we didn’t have anything else to offer yet, but hopefully one of these days we can give our readers and those curious about cosplay a reason to visit our booth at events. But still we were glad to have cosplayer friends join us for a few shots at the booth.
Great bands rocked the World Trade Center and entertained the crowd with exciting performances. Shinkan, Yui for President, Zoryl, Asian Chicken Fest, Asterysk, and Moonspeak gave the audience reasons to pump their fists, head bang, and sing along as they performed songs close to otaku’s hearts.
One of the highlights of the fair was the cosplay competition, where great cosplayers battled it out for an amazing grand prize: a replica sword of Saber’s Excalibur from the Geisha’s Blade booth. Judges for the competition included prominent cosplayer Jin Joson, Dolldelight’s Cyril, and Robert Wong.
All of them gave wonderful performances in front of an appreciative crowd. In the end, Robert Sta Ana as Daimos won as champion, winning Saber’s Excalibur replica from Geisha’s Blade. First Runner Up went to Christian Umali as War Machine while Second Runner Up went to Rb Cheng as King Gojulas.
And we were there for the cosplayers of course, and there were a lot of them.
We would like to thank UP AME for organizing this wonderful event and for inviting us as a media partner. The arkadymac.com team enjoyed our coverage. Hope to see you guys again next year.
