The Philippine gaming community had its fill of excitement and more as the biggest League of Legends event in the Philippines will finally took place at the World Trade Center in Pasay City with Garena’s League of Legends Rampage 2014. As one f the most highly anticipated gaming events in this year’s calendar, Rampage 2014 promised to be bigger and better to satisfy the huge expectations of gamers, enthusiasts and fans, and they delivered in spades, without much of the troubles it had last year.
Garena Philippines Inc., in cooperation their sponsors, SMART Prepaid, Smart Bro, PHILIPS, PLDT Alpha Enterprise, Cosplay Network Philippines and URule! unveiled RAMPAGE 2014, definitely the biggest annual League of Legends event in the country for the year. With their players in the millions since it was released, the League of Legends game has had a strong following among local gamers, spawning communities and professional teams who trooped to the World Trade Center in droves, some as early as 3 in the morning to line up and be first to enter the event as the gates opened.
arkadymac is part of the official media team for Rampage 2014, and helping us bring the action is our coverage partner Jillian Rose and our cosplay models Ashley Misaki, Mina Kim, and Mikki Nyan. They all had fun as we covered the many exciting things at Rampage. It was filled with lots of attractions, features, cosplay, games, raffles, giveaways, and exciting e-sports action.
Rampage 214 was exciting as it was important as it hosted the official qualifiers that will determine the Philippine representatives for the Garena League of Legends SEA Finals, with the winning team getting their Ticket to the League of Legends World Championships. Top teams from all over the country competed for the honor, as the the highest level of competition was at Rampage as they brought games closer to reality with each and every match as the audience chanted and screamed for their favorite teams at the GameX Pro Gaming Series finals. Games were shown in real time at the giant monitor on stage and the audience was really into each game, wowing, screaming, chanting as they watched the action unfold.
Then there’s Cosplay Clash, where cosplayers portrayed their favorite League of Legends characters. With a total of P70,000 php worth of prizes to be given away, Cosplay Clash was as competitive as it is exciting, letting the audience experience the feel inside the Fields of Justice as cosplayers bring everyone’s favorite champions to life and perform on stage. Our friends Izaiah Luke Buellos and Ashley Misaki won the top prizes for the individual Cosplay Clash contest, and we will publish it later on a separate post, so please watch out for it.
There was still much fun to be had inside the World Trade Center as there will be lots of attractions in the Carnival Booths. Apart from enjoying every moment of the event with their friends, they lined up and participated at the many fascinating sponsor and house booths where they played games for a chance to win League of Legends goodies and merchandise. Besides winning at the carnival, attendees also got the chance to win lots of cool prizes in the raffles broadcasted on stage.
Local band Imago was there to give a performance and the audience was so into them as vocalist Mayumi Gomez was engaging and responsive of the people who stayed around till evening to watch them play. She had the audience singing and waving their arms to the band’s enchanting, well-loved tunes.
Helping out at the event are our friends from Otaku Urule and Cosplay Network Philippines. Them helping out made a difference in helping make the event more organized and very interesting, particularly with the cosplay part of Rampage. Many thanks for them on helping us and making this coverage possible.
Rampage was fun, exciting, with thousands of people in attendance. But at the World Trade Center, it never felt that crowded. Security was tight but otherwise reasonable. Lots of space for photoshoots and picture-taking. All in all, Rampage was great fun for the avid gamers and for the cosplayers.
