Cosplay fun of crazy proportions took place last weekend with Cosplay Crazy 2015, and arkadymac.com was happily there to cover this month-ending event. Held at SM City Taytay , Cosplay Crazy was a gathering of cosplayers from near and far, and being a free event, it was an afternoon of fun and enjoyment for everyone.
The Event Center of SM Taytay which hosted Cosplay Crazy was quite spacious and was able to accommodate the couple hundred people who showed up for the event, and with now entrance fee, everyone was welcome to roam around, hang out, and enjoy themselves. There were booths with various fascinating displays like cosplay props, statues, figures and more.
The event kicked off with a cosplay parade around the mall. Cosplayers enjoyed being seen around the mall in their costume as curious and amused mall patrons snapped photos away with their phones and tablets.
The highlight of the event was the Cosplay Competition where cosplayers put on exciting performances on stage in front of an appreciative audience. I was honored to be invited as one of the judges for the contest along with a great cosplayer and competitor, Kashia, and Ivan, a prominent cosplay craftsman. We admittedly had a hard time choosing the winners in the various categories as they all put on their best performances for us in their amazing costumes and with their great props.
But of course in the end we had to pick out those who we deemed were truly exceptional. Besides the ones we thought were the best for each category: Best Male, Best Female, Best Chibi, Best Armor/Mecha, and Best Game, special awards were also handed out. The winners received great prizes from the organizers and sponsors.
All throughout the event, cosplayers were all over the venue having fun with friends and having fun taking pictures with the crowd. It was quite obvious that they were enjoying themselves being able to gather together like this and simply enjoy their hobby and passion.
