Chibi cosplayer Ashley Misaki celebrated her 9th birthday with family and friends and the local cosplay community at the popular summer destination Jed’s Island Resort in Calumpit, Bulacan. Anyone who has attended a cosplay event or two will surely recognize Ashley, a bright and talented young lady who has made an impact in the cosplay scene, winning exactly 50 individual cosplay awards all over the Philippines before she even turned 9 years old. She and her family then wanted to show their gratitude to all those who have lent their support and admiration to her by throwing a big pool party along with the Animetics Cosplay Competition. arkadymac.com has always been the media partner for Ashley’s events, and we’re glad to bring you the highlights of her big birthday bash.
Ashley and her family sent out an open invitation to all cosplayers to her party a couple of weeks before her party. More than 100 cosplayers came to Jed’s Jed’s Island Resort that Sunday morning to celebrate Ashley’s birthday. The management made sure that the cosplayers were able to enter the resort for free and were able to stay at the huge function hall set aside for the birthday celebration as well as preparations for the Animetics cosplay event later that afternoon.
By lunchtime guests were gathered to start off Ashley’s birthday party. Everyone was delighted to see her cosplay Elsa of Frozen. She told us that it was her own choice, and that she had wanted to be Elsa for quite some time now. Everyone got to gather around her as they sang her Happy Birthday: family, friends, cosplayers, supporters–all happy to see Ashley smiling and in high spirits as she blew the candle to her light blue Frozen-inspired birthday cake. After Ashley accepted so many greetings, lunch was served by the catering crew and everyone enjoyed the sumptuous lunch at the function room.
Cosplayers were then asked to get ready for action after having lunch. They were then prepped for the cosplay parade. Guests at Jed’s Island Resort were in for a treat as lots of cosplayers got to present themselves and parade around the huge resort in their colorful costumes with a lively marching band in tow. They enjoyed taking pictures of them and with them and had fun despite the summer afternoon heat.
After the parade, it was time for the Animetics Cosplay Competition. Ashley herself gave a delightful performance as Elsa of Frozen to open the event, and she was happily applauded by the resort patrons who got curious and came to watch. Young and old alike enjoyed taking photos of her and with her after her performance.
The stage was then set for the individual cosplay competition, hosted by our good friend Kei from sponsor Cosmic Bytes, with judges Sunny and the management of ed’s Island Resort. One by one cosplayers put on a great show in front of an appreciative crowd, with skits that were as exciting as they were imaginative.
At designated segments of the event, guest performers Raindrop and Borealis put on exciting dance numbers for the audience, who enjoyed their performances.
Later that afternoon, winners for the different categories were announced, and all of them got to take home great prizes from the organizers of Animetics, Cosmic Bytes, and Jed’s Island Resort, as well as receiving the recognition they deserved for a job well done.
That wasn’t the end of it though as cosplayers were free to enjoy the pools and other amenities of the resort, and they all had a great time swimming, splashing down slides, and playing around with their friends. The birthday girl Ashley of course was no exception, probably having the most fun.
We got to have some shoots with our friends Orly, Meg and Azeleia in and around the resort.
Our thanks to the organizers of this wonderful event for a great time for everyone. Ashley’s family first and foremost, to Ashley for accommodating everyone, to the Animetics staff for coming up and preparing the cosplay event, and to Sunny and staff of Jed’s Island Resort for their truly generous support to Ashley and the cosplayers. We hope you will get to have another such event soon. Special thanks to Otaku Dreamers for their support of the event and Rainielo for helping out with our photography.
