Asia’s biggest and longest running convention and event for wonderful things called toys, games, collectibles, cosplay, anime, comics, and whatever may find itself in between reached its finale with Day 3 of ToyCon 2015 held at the Megatrade Halls 1-3 of SM Megamall. Gracing the festivities was the world’s most prominent cosplayer, Ms. Alodia Gosiengfiao, and attendees just couldn’t get enough of her. As part of the Cosplay Circle Team for ToyCon 2015, our coverage was mostly on her and the first-ever Grand Gathering of international cosplay group, Cosplay Circle.
We were of course overwhelmed with the amazing number of exhibitors and retailers who had their merchandise already on display. Collectors and enthusiasts will surely be pleased with the bewildering number of toys and other collectibles on display and for sale. The organizers weren’t kidding when they said that TOYCON would have the biggest exhibitor floor of all pop culture merchandise in terms of apparel, collectibles and memorabilia, graphic novels and comics, cosplay paraphernalia, and toys. One could literally spend most of the day just browsing through the many rare, unique and amazing merchandise on display or for sale at the best prices around. Also to rave about are the great gaming companies featuring their hit and up-and-coming games. Be sure to visit them for free trials and lots of freebies. Throughout the day, exhibits and features by chosen exhibitors were showcased at the event as people kept pouring in to partake in the many sights TOYCON had to offer.
After judging the group cosplay competition, Alodia proceeded to her booth where she and sister Ashley had a Mortal Kombat game challenge with the fans. Those lucky to get chosen had a round of fighting game mayhem with Alodia, Ashley and Eric. They had fun and, win or lose, got to take home some wonderful souvenirs from Alodia and Ashley.
After the games, there was a short meet-and-greet session with their adoring fans. They took photos with them, had their autographs, had selfies, shook hands and had short chats. Our Cosplay Model Mina Kim got to take a photo with them as well. It was an experience like no other as Alodia and Ashley brought joy to their fans at ToyCon 2015.
After the meet-and-greet, our team had some time to go around ToyCon and just enjoyed the sights at the venue. Had fun there with our friends Ysabella as Harley Quinn and Mark as Deadpool as they posed for us and the crowd at the Iflix booth. Promising to be the new face of entertainment, they have been reaching out to people and letting them know about giving them access to thousands of shows and movies from all around the globe with the mere press of a button. They gave out free trials and lots of fun freebies to participants.
We got to meet model Anicka Lyka Yu, who was having fun at Toycon cosplaying as Super Sonico.
It was already early evening, but we were glad to still have taken some shots of cosplayers having fun on the last day of the event.We got to spend some time with our Avenger cosplayer friends, oh, and Eric joining in the fun.
And had some shots with the tireless Toycon staff and marshals who managed to keep things in order throughout the event. They deserve some thanks and praise.
It was a long and tiring weekend, but it was fun and it had its moments.
