With even more people coming in by the thousands to Function Rooms 2, 3, and 4 of the SMX Convention Center at SM Mall of Asia on its second day, The Best of Anime 2015 continues to stake its claim as one of the biggest anime conventions in the Philippines. Already on its sixth straight year, BoA delighted its loyal fans by providing an exciting lineup of attractions and activities all weekend long, with an impressive roster of international guest cosplayers and performers to ensure that attendees have a memorable experience.
With a solid and consistent track record of providing the best experience and entertainment possible for its fans by listening to their requests and feedback for the past five years, BOA has gained a strong following in the local anime and cosplay community. It has been promoting Japanese pop culture through exhibitions, film screenings, school events and contests to reach a wider audience.
Day 2 started off with performances by Starmarie, then Sara Tousa Bao after his Meet and Greet. Then came the highlight of the day, the BoA Inter-school Cosplay Competition where the top 5 cosplayers from various legs from different schools got to show off their skills in cosplaying. The difficult task of picking out the best from a talented pool of participants fell on the shoulders of an impressive team of judges made up of outstanding Singaporean cosplayer Sara Tousa Bao, Monya of Starmarie and Taiwanese cosplayer Hane Ann.
Competitors put on their best performances in front of a supportive crowd, their skills put to the test.
Not long after, the World Cosplay Summit NCR qualifiers were underway, with three amazing teams battling it out for the right to represent the region at the Nationals to be held in Davao later on.
As a teaser for the concert later that evening, Joe Inoue got on stage and performed some of his best hits. The talented Japanese singer and songwriter first got to perform in the country way back in 2013, and ever since then his Filipino fans just keep on multiplying and couldn’t get enough of him. His charisma, undeniable singing talent and antics made him a crowd favorite. Joe confessed that he has already fallen in love with the Philippines and thanked the fans for their endless support. He even wrote and sang a couple of songs in Taglish just to show his deep appreciation. He send the crowd rocking with his famous hits like Fighting Dreamers and Closer and had a fun time with them, taking photos and videos and going to the barriers to shake hands with the crowd.
Then came time for the awarding ceremony where prizes and recognition to the winners were given out as the various sponsors, partners, guests, organizations, and schools were acknowledged for their invaluable help in making BoA 2015 a successful one
After the awarding, the audience was asked who they wanted to see next year as organizers Primetrade Asia promise an even bigger and grander event next year, and invited them to come watch and enjoy a very special concert later in the evening.
Throughout the day of course, cosplayers were all over the venue, and there were lots of them enjoying being with the crowd in the costumes they have prepared just for this event. Among them was our Cosplay Models Nicole, Aerielle and Irene who were having fun at the last day of BoA.
As evening came, a special stage was set for one of the best concerts ever the community will ever get to witness as Japanese performers featuring Joe Inoue, Uchusentai Noiz and Eir Aoi gave a performance of a lifetime, singing their best hits one after another, the crowd ecstatic, singing along with their idols. The floor of the convention hall was literally shaking as the fans were jumping up and down and pumping their fists and cheering the performers on as they matched each other’s energy.
No photos or videos were allowed to be taken during the event, and this was strictly enforced throughout the concert. We were happy to have Eir Aoi take some photos after her performance and post it on her Facebook page.
BOA 2015 turned out to be another breakthrough year as thousands of people filled Function Rooms 2, 3, and 4 of the SMX Convention Center at SM Mall of Asia on both days, making it definitely one of the, if not the biggest, anime conventions of the year, and we all look forward to another exciting edition next year.
