The rainy weather wasn’t able to stop fans, enthusiasts and cosplayers alike from attending Otaku Expo at SM Megamall, MegaTrade Hall 3 on August 17 and 18, 2013. On its 7th year, this event featured the many interesting aspects of Japanese pop culture and attracted anime fans, gamers, toy collectors and enthusiasts from all over the country.
Besides the many interesting booths that were there that provided interesting games, toys, collectibles, and food, there were several categories of cosplay contests, Anime Battle of the Bands, Anime Trivia and the Anime Art Contest. There was also the Maid Café, Host Club and Toy Display for all the hardcore fans and for the just plain curious.
The event hall was often crowded since there were a lot of visitors, so the fun spills over outside where costrippers strutted their stuff to the delight of an appreciative crowd who took pictures of them and with them.
Pretty good turnout even on a rainy weekend, and there were enough attractions to keep the goers interested. We had a fun time at Otaku Expo 2013 day 1, and we of course look forward to more at day2, so we hope to see you there.
