New events that cater to the cosplay and otaku community are always a reason for celebration, even more so when our esteemed friends and partners hold their first ever. O-kun Fiesta by Otaku Asia Anime Magazine will be coming to the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia on May 16, 2015, and everyone who loves Japanese pop culture is cordially invited. And as their official media partners, we at arkadymac.com will be there to give our full support and will be there to cover the event.
PSICOM’s leading otaku lifestyle magazine, Otaku Asia, has announced its first event, O-kun Fiesta 2015, an initiative of PSICOM Publishing Inc. and organized by Otaku Asia. The Filipino people have created our own idea of Japan based on the accumulated knowledge from anime, manga, media and internet. We celebrate the idea of Japan along with our Filipino traditions and thus, Otaku Asia named the event, O-kun Fiesta. Still on its planning stage, the event is themed as a school summer festival – to emulate the magazine’s sections of anime, food, fashion, music, games, culture and entertainment into a Japanese school festival where all sorts of activities could be experienced. We encourage exhibitors and sponsors to follow the theme. We are also reaching out to food booths that sell ‘festival food’. O-kun Fiesta 2015, slated for May 16 at Function Room 1 SMX Convention Center Pasay promises to feature a cosplay and karaoke competition, maid café and magazine and book signing as stage events. We have invited well known local cosplayers. Floor activities include a Tanabata wall, a freedom wall in the style of a festival tradition of writing wishes on a tanzaku and Mini-torii challenge, a tradition in Awashima shrine during summer.

About Otaku Asia
Started as Otaku Asia Anime Magazine in 2013, Otaku Asia has transformed itself to be Philippine’s
otaku lifestyle magazine. Based in Quezon City, the OA team has published magazines with various
sections for cosplay, art, food, music, games, lifestyle, communities, tutorials and Japanese pop culture.
Otaku Asia believes that the Filipino people have contributed so much to the otaku culture locally and
we need not look outside our land to find talented manga artists, creative crafters and cosplayers,
skilled photographers and coordinated communities of individuals with shared interests.
